Karla is a PhD student in the department of Biomedical Engineering. She completed BS degrees in 2018 at Middle Tennessee State University in Biochemistry and Computer Science. Prior to joining the lab, Karla spent a year at Clemson University in a systems mechanobiology lab where she developed computational tools to study the role of mechanical signals on cell-matrix interactions and tissue development. Karla is a recipient of the National Science Foundation Graduate Research Fellowship.
In her free time, Karla enjoys spending time with her dog and painting.
