Researchers in the Trayanova Lab receive three Johns Hopkins Discovery Awards

Principal investigator Dr. Natalia Trayanova and Drs. Eugene Kholmovski, David Spragg, and Hugh Calkins, received the Johns Hopkins Discovery Award for the project entitled "Deep Learning and Reinforcement Learning for Understanding of and Prevention of Atrial Fibrillation Recurrence Following Catheter Ablation."

Principal investigator Dr. Adityo Prakosa, Drs. Natalia Trayanova, Cynthia James, Stefan Zimmerman, and Hugh Calkins, and PhD candidate Yingnan (Nancy) Zhang received the Johns Hopkins Discovery Award for the project entitled "Novel Personalized Computational Approaches for Non-invasive Ventricular Arrhythmia Risk Assessment in Arrhythmogenic Right Ventricular Cardiomyopathy: From Genetics to Whole Heart Model."

Principal investigator Dr. Jonathan Chrispin and Dr. Dan Popescu received the Johns Hopkins Discovery Award for the project entitled "Artificial Intelligence Powered Strategy for Predicting Risk of Sudden Cardiac Death in Patients with Sarcoidosis."

The Johns Hopkins Discovery Awards provide grant awards to cross-divisional teams, comprised of faculty and/or non-faculty members from at least two schools or affiliates of the university, who are poised to arrive at important discoveries or creative works. The expectation is that these awards will spark new, synergistic interactions between investigators across the institution and lead to work of the highest quality and impact.

Kholmovski, Popescu, Prakosa, Trayanova, and Zhang have main appointments in the Whiting School of Engineering and Calkins, Chrispin, James, Spragg, and Zimmerman have main appointments in the Department of Medicine at Johns Hopkins University. Collaborations are achieved through the mission of the Alliance for Cardiovascular Diagnostic and Treatment Innovation (ADVANCE), led by co-directors Natalia Trayanova and Hugh Calkins.
