Welcome, Postdoc Shane Loeffler!

In January 2022, we welcomed Shane Loeffler to the Lab as a new postdoctoral student!

Shane was raised in North Carolina and served in the US Navy as a Hospital Corpsman before earning his BS in Physics and Astronomy from UNC Greensboro. After completing his undergraduate degree in 2017, he continued his education at The Joint School of Nanoscience and Nanoengineering where he earned his PhD by studying the physics of cardiomyocytes and applying machine learning techniques to help predict myocardial ischemia from electrocardiograms (ECGs).

Shane currently enjoys solving physical problems of the heart using computer simulations and multidisciplinary approaches. He wishes to apply these solutions in a clinical setting to improve lives and prevent cardiac death. Shane also enjoys teaching and helping others understand problems and solutions.
